What is Genomics?

Genomics refers to the study of the entire genome of an organism (whereas genetics refers to the study of a particular gene). The human genome is the complete set of genetic information for humans and includes both protein-coding genes and noncoding regions.

Research into the field of genomics allows us to build a better understanding of the role genes play in our health and disease.

When applied to cancer diagnostic development, genomics has the potential to provide new, more accurate information about patient risk that can change the way that cancer patients are managed. Learn more.
